Helse Sunnmøre (Volda- and Ålesund hospitals) is located in the south western part of Norway. Facilities within Helse Sunnmøre are situated in Volda, Ålesund, Sande and Ørskog. The area has good educational opportunities for children and youngsters.
Helse Sunnmøre provides health care to inhabitants of the district known as Sunnmøre. We offer both somatic and psychiatric health care services to a population of about 130,000 in this region.
The governing functions for Helse Sunnmøre are patient treatments, education of health care professionals, research and to provide guidance and training to patients and their next of kind.
The total budget for 2009 is aprox 2,4 mill. NOK. We employ about 2 600 persons of different professions. We have approx. 24 500 patients in our wards and approx 159.000 patients in the day-care clinics and polyclinics. Helse Sunnmøre has 544 ward beds. 111 of these are located in the departments of psychiatric care.
